FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Festival de las Americas Spring 2007 to be
held at Dekalb Event Center on Sunday March 25th
and Sunday April 1st
Atlanta - March 5, 2007 - Atlanta Latino, Inc.
and COMCAST are pleased to announce the 5th annual
Festival de las Americas Spring 2007 competition
at the Dekalb Event Center located at 3595 Clairmont
Road adjacent to Plaza Fiesta Mall in Dekalb County.
Show times are 2 pm - 7 pm both Sundays. Admission
is free.
The Festival de Las Americas talent competition
is similar to the popular "American Idol"
TV program where hundreds of Hispanic musical
artists audition before a panel of judges for
a coveted spot on stage for a chance at winning
a recording contract and a bounty of other prizes.
All Latin musical genres are represented; from
the ever-popular reggaeton to ranchero to hip
hop. During the Grand Finale show, which takes
place Sunday April 1st, the finalists will battle
it out to be the next "Latin American Idol".
Judith Martinez-Sadri, editor-in-chief of Atlanta
Latino Newspaper stated, "Because of the
overwhelming telephone calls, emails, and letters
from contestants requesting to audition, we had
to add a second festival in 2007 in order to accommodate
the performers as well as our fans."
The Festival de las Americas Spring 2007 is also
sponsored in part by metroPCS, Kroger, Infinity
Insurance, Discolandia, DreamHouse Agency, Casablanca
Hispanic Yellow Pages, Nash Chevrolet, TireStar,
and the Medieval times Dinner & Tournament.
COMCAST's Debra Cramer, Director of Marketing
stated, "Comcast is proud to be affiliated
with Atlanta Latino Newspaper on this project
because our company is a strong supporter of the
Latino community and culture." Michael Loverde,
Director of Advertising and PR for metroPCS boasted,
"MetroPCS has participated as a major sponsor
in this event since its inception in 2003."
Returning once again as master of ceremonies
is Tony Guerrero, a popular entertainer in several
Hispanic markets in the southeastern United States.
Fans admire him for his humorous wit, charismatic
presence on stage and musical talents. Joining
Mr. Guerrero onstage is Martha Sandoval, who has
participated as Mistress of Ceremonies for the
Festival de Las Americas in 2005 and 2006.
During the past four years, the Festival de Las
Americas has brought together the Hispanic community
in Georgia and showcased the best Hispanic talent
of the South. For more information regarding the
