ATLANTA - March 6th, 2007- Atlanta Latino Newspaper
in collaboration with key Hispanic businesses
throughout the city have agreed to conduct live
auditions at their store locations in order to
select the top 30 acts who will perform at the
Festival de Las Americas Spring 2007 event before
a panel of judges, corporate sponsors, and thousands
of supportive fans.
Live auditions have already begun with the first
one at "Pan Fino" International Bakery
in Norcross held on February 24th. The second
live audition took place at the Discolandia store
located at the Sante Fe Mall in Duluth. "We
feel it is important to put the contestants in
front of the public so that they can practice
performing in front of a live audience and also
help them get rid of any stage-fright," stated
Farid Sadri, Executive Producer of the Festival
de las Americas. He further added, "Performers
travel from all over the city and some from out
of state so we wanted to give everyone several
location options to accommodate their commute."
The next live audition will take place on Saturday,
March 10th at Nash Chevrolet from 11 a.m. - 3
p.m. at 630 Scenic Highway, in Lawrenceville.
On Thursday, March 15th, contestants wishing
to audition can go to the Discolandia Mega Store
located at Plaza Fiesta Mall from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
The CD's of previous Festival de Las Americas'
winners are currently available at Discolandia
locations throughout metro-Atlanta. Discolandia's
President Francisco Rodriquez stated, "We
will have a dedicated section in each store showcasing
the CDs from past Festival winners as well as
new artists who will be rising from these events
and promotions." Rodriguez added, "The
objective is definitely to get the message out
there that Discolandia supports new talent through
this event". Discolandia is the city's largest
chain of Latin-based music stores in metro-Atlanta
with twelve locations.
The last live audition for performers wishing
to try out for a spot at the Festival de Las Americas
Spring 2007 event will take place at "Tire
Star" located at 1400 Pleasant Hill Road
Lawrenceville, 30045 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on
