GOVERNORS TO MEET ON ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR
NATION'S HISPANICS
USHCC to Host Town Hall Meeting-"
Empowering Hispanics -- A Governor's Perspective"
WASHINGTON,
D.C. - Hispanic economic growth is the topic as The United States
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) holds its Third Annual Town
Hall Meeting - " Empowering Hispanic's -- A Governor's Perspective"
on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at Georgia State University in
Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes will lead the
discussion with fellow governors: Governor Jeb Bush of Florida,
Governor Jane Dee Hull of Arizona and Governor Don Siegelman of
Alabama. CNN Correspondent Maria Hinojosa will serve as moderator
for the Town Hall Meeting.
"The
Hispanic community has contributed exponentially to the economic
growth and fabric of this nation," said George Herrera, USHCC
President and CEO. "At the Town Hall Meeting, the governors
will address and share their perspective on issues, such as education,
immigration and economic growth that impacts Hispanics in their
state and across the country."
The
Town Hall Meeting is an event of the USHCC's 22nd Annual National
Convention and Business Expo, which will be held on September
19-22, 2001, in Atlanta. Nearly 6,000 business leaders, elected
officials and members of corporate America will attend the various
plenary sessions, events, activities and a business expo over
the four convention days. The Town Hall Meeting will be held from
4:00 -5:30 p.m. at the Georgia State University, Student Center
State Ballroom.
The USHCC represents the interests of more than 1.2 million Hispanic-owned
businesses in the United States and Puerto Rico, which earn more
than $200 billion annually. It serves as the umbrella organization
for more than 200 local Hispanic chambers nationwide, and it actively
