HISPANIC YOUTH TO RECEIVE AWARDS FOR CREATION
OF BUSINESS PLANS
Atlanta,
GA - The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation
will host an awards luncheon to recognize its 2nd Annual National
Youth Entrepreneurship BizFest "Business Plan Winners"
on Saturday, September 22, at the Georgia World Congress Convention
Center, Room 161-162 from 1-2 p.m. The BizFest is part of the USHCC's
22nd Annual National Convention and Business Expo.
"Over
100 students will compete in the 'Business Plan' competition throughout
the three-day BizFest," said Jane Garcia, USHCC Foundation
President. "This event is the culmination of a series of intensive
entrepreneurial and leadership training activities."
Sponsor
representatives from AT&T will also present a $225,000 grant
to the USHCC Foundation Youth Entrepreneurship Program.
The
Youth Entrepreneurship Program in partnership with Kids Way Inc.,
provides Hispanic youth with a variety of experiences through hands
on training and mentoring. Youth Entrepreneurship Program participants
learn business plan writing, time management and the financial concerns
of starting a business. The program has been designed for students
ages 16-20 and travels to different cities throughout the nation.
Other
Youth Entrepreneurship Program sponsors include: VISA, McDonalds,
Wal-Mart, Merrill Lynch, AOL/Time Warner, General Motors and Soza,
Inc.
The
USHCC Foundation is committed to the purpose of giving Hispanic
youth alternatives for life preparation. The USHCC Foundation provides
Hispanic youth leadership training, entrepreneurial skills and business
acumen to ensure they reach their full potential and develop into
the Nation's future business leaders.
